I am currently I am developing a Visual Arts textbook to support a new curriculum being implemented in Western Australian high schools. 
 
INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE
I am writing to invite you to contribute to the publication.
 
To be upfront, I am unable to afford large reproduction costs, however I am able to supply you with a copy of the printed book and will ensure full attribution including name, website and any other statements about yourself and your work that you care to include.  
 
I will endeavour to provide sufficient and detailed information to define the parameters of the project and how your work would be included, if you wish you be involved.
 
ABOUT
Currently the Curriculum Council of Western Australia is implementing a new senior secondary Visual Arts course for students (aged 16-17). The Visual Arts course was due to be implemented in 2008, however there has been a recent delay and the course is scheduled t be introduced in school 2009. THE VISUAL ARTS COURSE
The new Visual Arts course provides students with a broader and more flexible curriculum, with a focus on the practice of contemporary Visual Arts in a range of expressive fields and art forms. Students are expected to research artists in both an Australian and international context, when developing and producing their &#039;Body of Work&#039;.

The Visual Arts resource being developed is a series of 4 books that directly elaborate on the content of each of the eight units of the course. The eight units are paired:
 1A (experiences) 1B (explorations)
 1C (inspirations) 1D (investigations)
 2A (differences) 2B (identities)
 3A (commentaries) 3B (points of view)
 
Each volume is expected to be around 400 pages and will be produced in full colour.
The printing of 1A/1B is expected to occur early-mid 2008, and others staggered leading up to the implementation of the course in 2009.

The textbook is written as to elaborate the content of ART MAKING and ART INTERPRETATION as describe in increasing levels of complexity from fundamental 1A to more advance 3B units. 
 
YOUR ART WORK
The inclusion of your art work is to assist students to engage with contemporary art practice, group under the content headings.
 
ART MAKING includes:
inquiry 
visual language 
visual Interpretation 
presentation 
art forms, media and conventions 
techniques and processes 
reflection
 
ART INTERPRETATION includes:
visual analysis 
personal response 
meaning and purpose 
social, cultural and historical contexts 
ethical, legal and economic issues
Your work would be used in the context of students; investigating, responding and exploring ideas and processes relating to your practice, themes, style and/or meanings communicated. There would be activities for students to complete. 
 
LAYOUT AND DESIGN 
Currently the layout and books are being developed. 
 
SIZE OF PUBLICATION
Impact Publishing retain the license to print the publication for a period of 10 years with a minimum print run of 1000 copies. 
 
SUBMISSION OF IMAGES
No new or commissioned work is expected. Submissions of existing work are requested in file size of no less that 300dpi, to ensure high quality print results. Contributing artists may submit between 1-20 images for the 4 Volume textbook series. 
 
Further statements and supporting information may be provided to provide contextual information about specific work, art practice in general, themes, inspiration and or processes.
